Ibsens Hotel was once known as the hotel “run by 3 ladies”. Today, it takes more than that to live up to our excellent reputation.
The times, they are changing...
Today, the Nansensgade area is blooming with a range of new cafés and unique shops, bringing liveliness to a traditionally quiet, laid back neighbourhood.

House of the musicians
When Brøchner Hotels took over Ibsens Hotel, its style was Victorian, with thick carpeting, jumble-sale furniture and bawling deer decorating the walls. All reception and bookkeeping administration was organised in small notebooks, and the Concierge used to live under the Hotel’s staircase.
What a change we made! The entire building was modernised and converted into a Hotel (originally confined to only 2 of the floors).
A number of musicians have stayed in the building through the years, both when the building was the property of the Musicians’ Association of Denmark and after it turned into our hotel.

Fireplaces and poster beds
At the end of the 90’s, each floor had its own décor profile. The 4th floor was known as ”the romantic floor” and the 5th floor “the Bohemian floor”.
This is no longer the case, albeit one can still feel the building’s history, particularly in some of our suites, where you’ll find an antique four-poster bed and tiled fireplace.
The hotel has definitely stepped into the 21st century, with its modern facilities though keeping the individual air of each room. Each time you stay with us, you may want to experience a new style in a new room.
What we though are really famous for is our impeccable service and cosy atmosphere.
